Join us on this week’s Black Doctors Talk Podcast which features our guest, Dr. Kuryakin Rucker. Dr. Rucker speaks to us on the topic(s) of HR since the pandemic, shifting goals and responsibilities, and supporting companies to meet obligations for the human resources and management field. Dr. Rucker is a licensed attorney, professor, and human resources and management consultant.

 

During the podcast, Dr. Rucker talks about journey to the doctorate and how his work in human resources has afforded him opportunities to offer his expertise in both the legal and leadership aspect of employment and management to small and large companies. He shares that many businesses, including minorities, fall victim to challenges and closures simply due to the lack of knowledge. It is Dr. Rucker’s desire to help these businesses pivot and become successful, long-sustaining entities by providing his services and commitment to their successes. Dr. Rucker also shares how the most recent pandemic has impacted companies and how they now go about creating employee satisfaction and engagement from hybrid and remote settings. He believes the workplace has forever been changed and discusses how the shift in control has and will change leadership and management while also creating new goals and expectations from exployees.As a professor he is able to sow his theoretical and practical knowledge into invested minds with the hopes of creating informed and equipped human resource professionals.

 

Dr. Rucker is a native of Detroit, Michigan and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication, Master of Arts in Industrial Relations and Juris Doctor in Employment and Labor Law from Wayne State University in Detroit. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Management with a focus in Human Resources Leadership from Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Rucker has been the President and Senior Consultant of Rucker Management Consultants, LLC, located in Huntsville, Alabama and also an adjunct in the Department of Management, Marketing and Logistics at Alabama A&M University, where he teaches courses in management and human resources management. Dr. Rucker is a proud husband and father of three teenage children.
